‘Why Andrea was killed by the def-endant we can’t say. Did he learn that she had once been a man?’ prosecutor Simon Russell-Flint QC told the jury at Lewes Crown Court.
‘After they engaged in sexual activity did he follow her to the bathroom, throttle her and strangle her? He is a huge strong man and he dumped her body in the bedroom before setting her alight to dispense of the evidence.’
McMillan, 42, told police he had booked Ms Waddell via an escort website.
He said he agreed to pay £140 for an hour of oral sex and got a taxi to the 29-year-ancient’s flat in Brighton.
When he arrived she told him she was only free for half an hour. McMillan, originally from Annan, Dumfriesshire, told police he was unaware Ms Waddell was a transsexual and would never have harmed her even if he had known."
